AHIP is America's Health Insurance Plans, a national trade association. In Medicare sales, “AHIP” usually refers to the annual AHIP Medicare training and certification that agents complete to sell Medicare Advantage and Part D plans for most carriers.
The certification covers Medicare program basics, plan rules, and marketing-compliance requirements, typically alongside Fraud, Waste & Abuse and General Compliance training. Most carriers require agents to complete it each year before they can sell that plan year's products.
Because carriers gate appointments on it, agents generally complete AHIP ahead of the Annual Enrollment Period. Always confirm your carriers' specific certification requirements for the current plan year.
