Individual Coverage HRA (ICHRA)

An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) lets an employer reimburse employees, tax-free, for individual health insurance premiums and qualified medical expenses instead of offering a traditional group health plan.

Created by a 2019 federal rule, ICHRA is available to employers of any size. Employees buy their own individual coverage and get reimbursed, which is why ICHRA matters to agents who serve employer groups alongside their Medicare book.
